How to Spike Growth for Your Business This Year

If you want to spike growth for your business, the most important step is making a plan. By making a plan for growth now and following through, you can reap the rewards and take your business to the next level. Here are 5 easy ways to spike growth for your business.

#1 – Go digital

A recent survey conducted by Top Design Firms found that about one in four small businesses doesn’t have a website. If yours is one of them, it’s imperative to go digital. It’s no longer good enough to have just a social media presence.

A website gives your business credibility, but it needs to look the part. Consider this: 38% of people say they stop engaging with websites if the content or layout is unattractive. In addition to having a domain, your website must load quickly, offer easy navigation, and provide a memorable mobile experience.

#2 – Use content marketing to your advantage

Unless your business is one-of-a-kind, you probably have lots of competition. That’s the nature of a free market, but it’s possible to stand out. One easy way to do that is by creating high-quality content you can share on your blog, email newsletters, or social media channels.

When your website features valuable resources, prospective clients stick around longer. What’s more, great content builds trust. It provides valuable information that establishes you (and your team) as thought leaders.

One of the best ways to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) your websites is by adding original content. This content needs to have a good amount of text for SEO. Try adding articles, advice, or short guides related to your services or products in the form of a blog or a “resources” web page. Think of several short phrases people would use to find your service or products and use those terms on your web pages. This will help your website appear in the results when people use those terms to search for a business like yours.

#3 – Improve the customer experience

You might have a great product or service, but none of that matters if your customers have a bad experience. Don’t let that happen. When a client leaves your website or a brick-and-mortar location, make sure they’re satisfied. If you do, they’re more likely to come back, tell their friends, and leave a positive review.

Forbes’ agency council says there are various things you can do to improve the customer experience, including:

  • Providing personalized, white-glove service
  • Being authentic with your staff and customers
  • Regularly asking for and listening to customer feedback (both positive and negative)
  • Focusing on relationship building

It’s also important to establish a process for communicating with customers after they make a purchase. After all, the growth of your business relies on repeat transactions. Keep clients happy by promptly answering their questions or concerns whenever they arise.

#4 – Don’t be afraid to delegate (or automate)

As a business owner, you’ve got a lot on your plate. Instead of trying to do everything on your own, delegate (or automate). First, make a list of your most important professional assets. Most of your time should focus on honing these skills and using them to grow your business. Anything else that pulls you away can be assigned to someone else or automated.

Whether you choose to outsource time-consuming tasks like accounting and HR or opt to increase automation with vertically-focused software, it’s possible to get more done without breaking the bank.

#5 – Plan ahead for business growth

Benjamin Franklin wasn’t lying when he said, “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” The quote is just as true in business as it is in life. Outside of viral videos and memes, growth doesn’t happen miraculously overnight.

Do the following to spike growth for your business:

  • write down a strategy
  • set SMART goals
  • create tactics for each goal
  • set indicators of success for each goal
  • monitor progress and indicators of success
  • determine your unique value proposition over competitors
  • promote your unique value proposition on your website and marketing
  • take advantage of your competitors’ weaknesses
